With 20+ years experience on guitar, songwriting, performing and recording Phil has collated this knowledge into accessible and bespoke guitar lessons for beginners.

Phil believes everyone should have access to musical instruments, especially from a young age, which is why his lessons and tutoring range from 4+ years old to adults.

By making the lessons fun, relatable and with real-world goals in sight, Phil aims to spark the joy and excitement he felt in learning guitar for the first time and inspire the next generation of guitar players.

Phil is also a SEN friendly tutor, providing a calm and understanding environment, ensuring all are able to enjoy learning guitar.

Private Lessons

Private 1-1 guitar lessons for beginners

Phil offers private 1-1 lessons both online and in person from the ages of 4 years old to adults.

The lessons are designed around the student and integrate real world goals such as learning your favourite songs, making weekly progress and setting achievable milestones for the next lesson.

Weekly lessons of 30 minutes are recommended but this can be agreed based on your availability.

Music Workshops

Music Workshops to support your children's learning

Phil provides tailor made music workshops that can be tied into subjects being studied, interests of the class/group, towards assemblies etc.

The workshops revolve around songwriting and the children are given the opportunity to work in groups and create their own song.

Word association sessions provide the group with a wealth of ideas and inspiration to start putting their own lyrics together.

The host of the workshop (Phil) will come armed with a partially written song structure, and the children will use their ideas to complete the piece of music.

This music will then be practiced and rehearsed to a standard that can be presented to the rest of the school (if applicable).

The subject matter of the lyrics is completely customisable - for example Phil recently provided a workshop around sustainability and the environment which the children absolutely loved and created quite a beautiful piece of music which they performed as part of their end of term assembly while presenting other work on that subject.

Rock Tots

Rock Tots is a new type of toddler group!

For ages 6 months to 4 years old, Rock Tots brings nursery rhymes and your child's favourite theme tunes to life in a rock-inspired 30-minute class.

With age-appropriate guitars and percussion instruments, your child will be able to take part however they wish, exercising their energy in engaging singalongs and rocked-up versions of recognisable, age-appropriate songs performed by your host.

With time given at the end of the session to shake off the rocking out and retrieve their shoes from the mosh pit (joking there's no mosh pit!). We hope your children will leave feeling the buzz and excitement of playing instruments loud and proud.

Rock Kids

Rock Kids is designed to bring out your child's inner rock star!

By teaching basic guitar skills and learning recognisable songs (children's songs and theme tunes) your child will be given their own instrument (guitar or percussion) to inspire their inner rock god!

With time given at the end of the session to shake off the rocking out, they will be asked to tidy away the instruments and retrieve their shoes from the mosh pit (joking there's no mosh pit!). We hope your children will leave feeling the buzz and excitement of playing instruments loud and proud.

Guitar Lessons in an Educational Setting

Guitar lessons in schools and learning environments

Phil provides guitar lessons within local schools from ages EYFS to Year 6 and Year 7 to Year 11.

The lessons provided are based on the same structure and lesson plan as the private lessons, which means the content and learnings are dictated by the students ability and goals. All lessons in this instance take place within the school during schools hours (including after school clubs).

Weekly lessons of 30 minutes are recommended but this can be agreed based on the student's availability.

Pricing for lessons within schools may vary.

Under 18s Open Mic

Under 18s Open Mic - hosting

Phil is the host of a number of under 18s open mic events.

This event was born out of Phil's own experience growing up as a new guitar player and unable to find venues to practice his songs and performance skills. Sneaking into pubs is not something we recommend!

Because of this Phil has set up a number of under 18s open mic events across the Wirral to allow new performers, songwriters and musicians to get vital experience in front of a microphone and an audience.
